COMPUTER VIRUS

nowadays there's a lot of computer virus that makes our system infected..you should know them all!!!

VIRUS

•  a program that attaches itself without the users knowledge

• another program

• a part of the computers storage system

• The email system

• another part of the computers operating system or applications

VIRUS ACTIONS

• erase files

• formats the hard disk

• install remote control program that allow an undisclosed user to take over the system

• transmits data to another computer

• clues pointing to  virus infections

• the same or similar problems spread from one computer to another and the computers are connected to each other or a share data or media

• unexpected system slowdown

• onscreen messages indicating an infection

•  loss of system configuration in the CMOS

• outbound network traffic coming from unknown programs

TYPES OF COMPUTER VIRUS

1.executable file virus

• attaches itself to the boot sector of media

2.boot sector virus

• attaches itself to the boot sector of media

3.macro virus

•  adds unauthorized commands to the macros stored as part of data files created with programs such as word and excel

4.VB script virus

• spread through corporate and personal email systems and is carried by a VB script attached to an email message.

5.Blended threat

• virus or Trojan horse that attacks files, network/internet connections , servers and causes multiple types of damage on infected files

6.Spyware

•  programs that monitor and transmit data without the users knowledge to a remote computer.

WHAT TO DO WHEN A VIRUS IS LOCATED

1. disinfect the infected computer by using an updated antivirus
2. check all other computers that are connected to the infected computer through networks
3. check all media, including floppy disk, removable media, tape and CD-R/ CD-RW that have been used on the infected computer
4. if the infected computer shares files with a computer at home, encourage the client to check the home computer for viruses.
